Summer Time With No Ducks

As you notice it is hot, hot, like really hot. When this happens you know it is Summer, even though Summer out here in Texas last 9 months out of the year. Everyone wants to go enjoy vacation, so the podcast is on a pause until we get back in next season. For now ,this blog will continue to blog. Be ready and read the awesome words on this page.

Let us start by dropping what you are doing,  go enjoy something else. Tell your boss that I gave you permission to enjoy yourself. Come back in 30 minutes and continue reading.

30 minutes later….for those who didn’t cheat, good for you. Now ask yourself, did you take advantage of those 30 minutes? You could of produced a radio show, swim in the pool, ate food, or even created a blog like this one. You might be like Michael, I have to do this, that, this, and that. So what about the other 30 minutes? You are right 24 hrs are in a day and just means, forty-eight 30 minute sessions are in a day also. However, we sleep a lot of these 30 minute sessions away.

Why did I bring this up you might ask? Over the past few days I listen to, “The Subtle Art Of Not Giving a F&%%” by Mark Manson. More meets to the title than just these words. We spend a lot of time, and I mean a lot of time on what we care about. This book helps us examine our lives in every detail. In the book Mark Manson mention…

“Our culture today is obsessively focused on unrealistically positive expectations: Be happier. Be healthier. Be the best, better than the rest. Be smarter, faster, richer, sexier, more popular, more productive, more envied, and more admired. Be perfect and amazing and crap out twelve-karat-gold nuggets before breakfast each morning while kissing your selfie-ready spouse and two and a half kids goodbye. Then fly your helicopter to your wonderfully fulfilling job, where you spend your days doing incredibly meaningful work that’s likely to save the planet one day.”

I have to admit, I cared a lot about life, people, finding that love life, friendships, careers, school, etc. Your list might not be the same as mine. Sometimes I tried so hard without even thinking I was trying so hard. I would have the mindset I can’t fail or scared of failure. That mindset alone is a failure because I was already thinking it. Rejection is huge too, everyone wants to be liked and loved more than ever in this century. Sometimes we reach the danger zone to do anything in order to find it.

I remember in my early education, I would get picked on a lot. During this time I tried really hard to fit in, the harder I tried the worst the outcome would be. Sometimes I would try without realizing I was trying. All I knew was that I must be a good person, gentleman-like, nice and go beyond. Now I think about it, why did I think this? I am your old fashion type, gentleman, Christian, and all. But something didn’t mix here… I was trying hard with all crazy emotions for all the wrong reasons. I wanted to be loved and liked by everyone. Everyone didn’t understood it at the time. It is impossible to be loved or like by everyone. We will have enemies and the strangers we don’t know, but still want them to like us without even knowing them. It’s just like on Facebook… you want to stand out, get likes, loves and laughs even by people you don’t even know. Imagine what it is like being celebrity. How many likes or loves do they get by random people?Do they care about it? People say, “I don’t care what people think of me”, may think in reality they are looking for people to like them.

After reading this blog, I encourage you to go take an hour break to yourself, enjoy it, and  read or listen to, “The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F%%%”. Put your big boy and girl ears on. Be happy whatever you do.

“Who you are is defined by what you’re willing to struggle for.”
